Forum: GratefulDead Subject: what the f***?

I'll be honest, I'm a novice when it comes to threads, forums ect. so please be patient. Can someone please enlightnen me as to what's going on? There's a thread reposted from december, other submissions just have a period after it and are scttered throughout other posts. Seems like it is a mess today. Actually something seems, "off" for lack of a better term. Would love a more experienced person to shed a little light.

THX

Jammin is correct in that 2, Chris, CLIFF and I reposted some old posts just to displace some spam...always better to do that with new posts, but it was a slow day, and we had some fun with it...

Not sure what happened to Chris though...

Chris? Worried about you...

Don't know if this is what you're talking about, but I was disappointed to see my reply about "worst covers" from back in December included in the contemporary thread. My sentiments remain the same on the subject, but I could have lived through the entire day without reliving the sniping that took place back then beween me and Fishead.

I do stand by it. Still, it was just an unpleasant exchange that I prefer would stay in the past where it belongs.

Oh--I know, and I had no problem with it. I was just recalling the great debate about whether it was okay to delete posts (I think it is, but I was in the minority, and am a chicken shit).

I missed that. And your being a chicken shit-this is because you were on the side of the issue in favor of being able to delete your posts? Well, then somebody'd better run out to the toolshed and get something to scrape me off the floor of the henhouse because I agree with you.

Vivian: "Corn flakes--corn flakes, corn flakes, corn flakes, corn flakes, corn flakes, corn flakes, corn flakes, corn flakes, corn flakes, corn flakes.

Rick: "Viv, that's only 22 words."

Vivian: "Oh yeah...c-o-r-n f-l-a-k-e-s."

Sorry, just had to interject a little British humour into this. Does anyone know what British TV show this is from? If you do, YOU WIN!!!

The Young Ones.

Vyvyan Basterd was the correct name. Remember his pet hamster SPG? Special Patrol Group was what it stood for.
This show was SO F'N FUNNY!!!! I know it was released on VHS sometime ago, but it needs to be put out on DVD.

"Who held the World Record for stuffing the most marshmallows up one nostril, and the World Record for the stickiest bogey" "Uh. Toxteth O'Grady, USA."

Interesting tidbit---Hugh Laurie played Lord Monty on the BAMBI episode where the flat-mates were on University Challenge, and Emma Thompson played Miss Money Sterling.

That's the trouble with having to 'stand by your post' (if we went with the 'delete if embarrassed' approach, you'd be safe).

Hey Lobster, Jammin & Cush & William Tell

Last night Cliff made a real decent effort to reconcile with "2" yesterday. I decided in that spirit to start answering "2" when he posted.

Well, by late Saturday night I am pretty sure that "2" was using at least 5 handles. I tried to deal with that for awhile but it gets real tweaky. Anyway I just got fed up and removed any post I could find that had anything to do with "2"

During that process I must have removed a post connected to somebody who is not "2" and they got offended and sent up a nameless response. I totally get that. i wouldn't want to be confused with "2" either.

Also I sent the old thread up from last year so that folks could see how slammed this place used to be before "2" set up shop.

This really reminds me of when the narcs invaded the scene and you could never be sure who was who? I obviously know most posters on this forum but I would not be surprised if "2" is using at least 7-10 different handles REGULARLY.

I am going to find a nice show and kick back because this thing with "2" is a soap opera I no longer want to be involved with in any shape or form.

Peace Brothers! No slight meant towards the straight up members of this community

Some of smi2les "alternate han2dles" go as far back as the etree forum and pre-date this forum. Its true!

Think of all the first time/one time posters that blew through here a few weeks back, usually requesting JGB links! Lately some posters from etree stopping by, then splitting.

Sadly, new posters are viewed with skepticism, but you need a scorecard now to tell "who's who"!

Hey man, when you are in the trenches on your own, you have to make a call now and again, and as long as it is in the spirit of the 'good fight,' no one will hold it against you...

Thanks for the update. I know this nonsense can be frustrating. Glad to see you're still around. I have no problems putting in the extra time to seek out interesting threads from the likes of you and many others on the site.

The wife and kids are out of the house so I think I'm going to throw in Kezar stadium 1973 for a bit

The old posts can be explained. Those are an attempt to bury some spam that was posted yesterday. However, I think it's better to simply post about new stuff, but whatever.

The deleted posts are mostly Chris Freedom's. I have no idea why they are being deleted.

What's going on, Chris? Why are you deleting all of your posts? For a long time you have been a well-respected poster. Your behavior now is puzzling. What's going on - are you OK?

I was also not in the loop yesterday. And yes Chris F is a very good poster. That's another reason why I'm baffled.

Thanks for the heads up
